Take everything out. Toss dried pens and mystery keys, return things that belong elsewhere, and keep only what you reach for every week. Put small items in old jars or boxes so they don't slide around. Fifteen minutes, and you'll notice it every day.

A storage idea that costs nothing

Shoeboxes make great drawer dividers. Cut them to height and line them up.
